Comments:- *An abridged version recorded in the Festspielhaus, but not at performances (see The Gramophone January 1959 p.390). According to David Hamilton «...the solos ofIvar Andresen, the Landgrave, are slotted in from studio recordings made in Berlin, though Andresem is clearly audible in the act 1 ensembles, I cannot detect his distinctive sound in act 2 except in those extraneously recorded solos» (The Opera Quarterly Vol.3 No.4 Winter 1985/86 p.86). These remarks only apply to the re-issue on LP by EMI-Electrola, where the Landgrave's «Gar viel und schön» was slotted in from an earlier recording by Andresen made with the Berlin State Opera Orchestra conducted by Fritz Zweig. The original 78s also contained «Ein furchtbares Verbrechen» (side 26) taken from an earlier recording (see THE OPERA QUARTERLY Vol.19 No.1 Winter 2003 p.82)

Comments:- *Recording of a performance at the Salzburg Festival (27 July 1953). According to Henry Fogel in his review in FANFARE of the CDs issued by Music & Arts «Until now most reissues of a Siepi/Furtwängler Don Giovanni were of the 1954 performance, even if they were labeled 1953. CD editions on Fonit Cetra, Hunt, and the Bruno Walter Society, and LP editions on Foyer, Cetra Live Opera, and Morgan, were all labeled 1953 but were, in fact 1954.». The CDRs issued on the Encore label are (were?) listed on the website of «berkshire record outlet inc.» (hyperlink in CLORLINK.HTM).
