Comments:- Recording of a performance at the Glyndebourne Festival (June? 1951; see OPERA August 1951 pp.457-462). The CDs issued by Urania are advertized in ORPHEUS Juli 2001 S.75. According to Urania the recording is of a performance on 6 June 1951. This is almost certainly incorrect as the Festival did not begin until 20 June. It is more likely that it was taken from a broadcast. According to RADIO TIMES Idomeneo was broadcast in the BBC Third Programme on 28 June and 14 July 1951. The CDs issued by Symposium were made from «acetates» lent by Hans Busch and part of Elektra's aria is missing as one acetate was broken.
