Comments:- According to the review in ARG of the recording issued by Columbia the musical portions «were taped in Cologne in October, 1951, and Cocteau's narration in French was added eight months later in Paris». The recording issued by Archipel appears to be a recording of the original broadcast as the narration is spoken in German by Werner Hessenland.

Comments:- The orchestra and chorus are stated incorrectly on the LPs to be those of «Norddeutscher Rundfunk» which was not formed until 1955 (see «Lexicon der Interpreten klassischer Musik im 20.Jahrhundert» S.849, S.883. Premiere has issued a recording (CDNO 650-2) of what appears to be this performance, but with the conductor given in their catalogue as Stokowski.
