Recordings of Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi are surveyed in the following publications:-

This recording is reviewed in the following publication:-
Ópera Actual (Barcelona) - No.85 noviembre 2005 p.87 [JMP]
------------------------------------------------------------------
Comments:- The Period LPs are listed in OPÉRA INTERNATIONAL (No.254 p.21), L'Avant Scène Opéra (No.112/113 p.157) and the Mellen Index (Vol.XI p.556) with what appears to be a fictitious cast, with the Patagonian Festival Chorus and Orchestra conducted by Ralph de Cross. It is indicated in L'Avant Scène Opéra (loc.cit.) that the Rigoletto is Protti and the Gilda is Zeani. The only performance that I have been able to find in which these singers sang together in these roles is in a RAI television performance transmitted on 26 February 1955. I have therefore assumed that the recording on the Period LPs is of the soundtrack of this. The cast listed above is that given in «50 anni di opera lirica alla RAI1931-1980» p.132. The CDs issued by Bongiovanni also carry, as a «filler», short excerpts from a performance of Rigoletto with Protti, D'Angelo, Filippeschi (Caracas 1956?). The CDRs issued by «The Opera Lovers» are listed on the website http://www.operalovers.ca. Here the performance is also attributed to RAI. The DVD issued by Premiere is included in their list of «NEW RELEASES Spring 2006».
